DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 Mhz. Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. DAREN Net Announcements, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.

I want to wish all of the mothers a happy mothers day.

Not much news this week, and I haven't received any E-Mails. For the last couple of weeks that I've been posting the DAREN News, I have been able to connect to, and post the News on the Hancock PBBS of WEIRWV. It looks like Roy Humes, N8RH, and Chuck Bennett, WD8DNC, have the station up and running in pretty good shape again.

I'm getting ready to head for the Dayton Hamfest late Thursday evening. I'm mostly going up to pick up small parts to replenish my supply of parts I use during the year. Of course if I find something worth while, and I can't do without, I'll bring it home with me. I hope to see a few of the DAREN operators up there.

There were 60 check-ins to this week's State Wide DAREN Net. Tim, KC8PMI, who's been participating in the net since April 6, 2002, has completed 200 check-ins, and will be receiving his certificate. We'll be missing one operator from the net for the next couple of months. Don Hale, N8EVP, was diagnosed with cancer about a year ago and has been taking treatments, with some success. Don has been sent to Cleveland for some additional treatment, and will be up there for at least two months. I hope Don has a speedy recovery. I'm late again getting the last few Check-in Certificates out to those operators who have been waiting for them. I now have the certificates printed up, I just need to get the rest of the material put together, and get them mailed out. I should have them ready to go in the mail this week before I go to Dayton.
